Mexican Chocolate Atole Smoothie



You can enjoy the warm and rich flavors of Mexican chocolate atole in the form of a tasty smoothie. With a modern twist, this old-fashioned drink is great to drink on a cold day or as a sweet treat.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1/4 cup of masa harina corn flour
  • 2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • Whipped cream optional
  • Cocoa powder for garnish optional
  • Cinnamon sticks for garnish optional

Instructions:

In a blender, combine the milk, masa harina, cocoa powder, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt

Blend until all the ingredients are well combined and the mixture is smooth

Pour the mixture into a saucepan and heat it over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens

This should take about 5-7 minutes

Do not let it boil

Once the mixture has thickened, remove it from the heat and let it cool for a few minutes

Pour the smoothie into glasses and, if desired, top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cocoa powder

You can also garnish with a cinnamon stick for added flair
